Goals & Expectations
2006-2010

I         By 2010, all schools will meet or exceed the State Academic Performance Index target of 800.II         By 2010, all schools will exceed the federal requirement for the percentage of students proficient in English Language Arts (56.8%) and Mathematics (58%).III        To facilitate the attainment of the above student achievement goals, all schools will demonstrate:

  1. A clear and shared focusHigh standards and expectations for all studentsCurriculum and Instruction aligned with State StandardsFrequent monitoring of teaching and learningFocused professional developmentHigh levels of collaboration and communicationEffective use of fiscal and human resourcesA supportive learning environmentEffective teacher and staff evaluations
  2. High levels of parent and community involvement

Progress toward meeting these expectations will be measured annually through an evaluation portfolio containing evidence of site practices in these ten areas.  In addition, for your information, the following planning cycle and tasks will be performed on a yearly basis:

Summer

District organizes student data for each site.

Fall

Sites analyze data and set local goals consistent with district goals, completing action plan in the form of a school effectiveness plan similar to the responsibility matrix.

Fall

District reviews site plans for trends by level and creates plan to support site plans.

January

Progress is reported at midyear and is used to project budget needs for the ensuring year according to a district responsibility matrix that supports common needs by level.

Summer

Evidence, in the form of assessments and surveys, is collated.

Fall

Sites report progress from previous year and create new action plans.
